We are a couple of Toronto Wedding Photographers and Videographers specialized in Toronto Wedding Photography and Videography as well as Destination Wedding Photography and Videography. Hindu Wedding Photography and Videography are our specialty as well as Catholic, Eastern Orthodox (Greek, Macedonian, Serbian and Bulgarian), Jewish, Muslim, Ishmaeli, Baptist, Christian and non-religious.

Wild Orchid Creations is an exclusive, boutique style wedding photography and video studio based in Toronto. We are award-winning photographers whose primary concern is providing top quality wedding photographs and videos. We only book a limited number of weddings per year to ensure that all of our clients will get the highest quality products and services. By doing so, we always have enough time to spend with each couple prior to their wedding in order to be able to truly customize our photo and video services to their specific tastes. We have created a list of suggested packages to help our customers out, but are able to create custom wedding packages that will better suit some couples’ wedding day needs.

Our wedding photography style is modern, fine art, documentary and creative. This means that you will always get a mixture of photojournalistic and candid wedding photographs, artistic, fun and unique shots as well as some classic and traditional wedding pictures. All packages include a fully edited DVD of all wedding images. The images are unmarked and ready for print. The editing also includes artistically edited images. A six month online gallery is included with all of our photography shoots.

Our wedding videos are innovative and cinematic. We produce a mix of documentary and movie style editing in most of our videos. We always shoot with a minimum of two high definition video cameras, wireless microphones and professional lighting. All videos are edited in HD and you will get one Blu-ray DVD as well as 3 standard DVDs with each wedding video package.

Our relationship with you usually begins with a consultation. Wedding consultations are always free and we’re more than happy to meet with you as many times as necessary prior to your wedding. Clients will most often come to meet with us in our studio located between downtown Toronto and the Beaches and very close to where the DVP and Gardiner Expressway end. At our photography studio, you will have the opportunity to meet us in person, see a lot of samples of our work as well as the various products we offer such as wedding albums, digital storybook albums, large customized prints, canvases and thank you cards. Out of town clients will usually have their first consultations with us over the phone and via email. Once we agree on a wedding package that best suits your needs, we will be able to help you with any photography and video related wedding planning such as time allotments and choosing the right photo location. If you have a wedding planner or day of coordinator, we will work closely with them to come up with a schedule that will optimize your photography and wedding video.

The next step is usually your Engagement Session. Photo Engagement Sessions can be done in our portrait studio or at any location that we agree upon. During the warm months, a lot of couples prefer to have engagement photographs taken outdoors, but if you are more interested in having a studio session, the option is always there.

The Video Engagement Session is usually done at the same time as the photography session. Couples who prefer a documentary style wedding video may not feel the need to shoot a traditional engagement session known as a Love Walk. In these instances, we recommend a different type of video shoot such as having us come to shoot one of your gown fittings, your food tasting at the banquet hall, cake tasting, meetings with the florist, your rehearsal dinner, bachelor or bachelorette party or any other pre-wedding event. This way, your wedding video will have the feel of a documentary from start to finish.

There are no strict rules about what you should wear to your engagement shoot, but we do recommend making sure that the colours and patterns in your clothes don’t clash and that you wear something timeless rather than something trendy because these will be photographs and videos that you will look back at and have on display for the rest of your lives. Very fine stripes can sometimes ‘dance’ in photographs and on video and should be avoided. This is usually a good time to have your trial session with your make up artist because you will have the opportunity to see how the make up looks in photographs. Most importantly, this is a great time to get to know us, how we work and how it feels to have your photo and video shot with professional photography and video equipment.

Boudoir Sessions are growing ever more popular with our clients and are a great wedding gift idea. These sessions normally take place in our photo studio, at a hotel, or in your own bedroom. Professional lighting is always used to optimize your best features and mute the ones you’re not so confident with. We do not restrict you to a certain number of outfits, but prefer for you to focus on the boudoir shoot rather than to constantly be changing. Three outfits is usually a good number. For those of you who are more daring, clothing is only optional and we can create beautiful artwork with your nude figure. Look your best by getting a good night’s sleep, doing professional hair and make up and bringing the most flattering attire and accessories. We can offer the services of a professional hair and make up artist, or you can do that on your own.

Wedding photography and cinematography can never be defined with just one style. To shoot such an event, we always offer a good mix of photojournalistic, documentary and candid style for the ceremony and reception while we focus on artistic and creative fine art and fashion style posed shoots at various photo locations throughout the day. We also never forget about classic and traditional family photographs because there are close family members at every wedding who expect those types of photographs.

Typically, we begin our day at the groom’s home and then move on to the bride’s home. There is no need for us to be at either home the entire time you are getting ready. It is usually better to plan to have us there for final touch ups and getting into the wedding gown or tux. After that, it is better to focus on photographing you, the bridal party and your family while you are dressed and looking your best. Most of the time, this is a great place for family portraits and posed creative, fine art photography. We prefer if the house is kept free of unnecessary clutter in order to help create the best backdrop for your photography and wedding video. If you would like us to photograph your wedding invitation and other important details such as the wedding bands, engagement ring and bouquets, it is a good idea to have them ready for us at the beginning of the day.

Ideally, we like to arrive at the ceremony location 30 minutes before the scheduled start time. This will give us ample opportunity to speak with the minister, set up our second video camera, put the wireless microphone on the groom and any other necessary preparation that may need to take place. Once the wedding ceremony begins, we are completely candid and will not do anything to interrupt it. We do have a few suggestions that will help make your photographs and video look better. If you will be wearing a veil, please ask your Maid of Honour to fix it once it is lifted above your head. Fathers of the bride or anyone else that walks the bride down the isle often leave it crinkly and that becomes quite an eye sore in photographs and on your video. If you wish to have your wedding dress beautifully spread out behind you for your ceremony, it is a good idea to let the brides maids know that they should take care of that once you’re in your place. Finally, when signing the marriage certificate, you may want to look up at us and smile for a more formal photograph. This will give you the option of a documentary photo where you’re not looking up at us and we may not see your face and a second shot where you’re posed and smiling.

It is a good idea to decide whether you prefer to have a receiving line as guests are exiting the ceremony location or as they enter the reception hall. A receiving line can be very time consuming and there is usually no need for two separate ones.

At most weddings, the ceremony is followed by a photo shoot at an outdoor location of your choice. Winter weddings are usually not shot outside, but we will help you choose the best and most convenient indoor location. This is a time for us to really create artwork that reflects your personalities and we encourage you to choose a location that will do just that. Some daring couples have taken us onto a subway car, into a fast food restaurant, to construction sites and into fire halls. This type of backdrop is not for everyone, but it is certainly something we encourage you to do if it appeals to you. Ideally, we like to have a beautiful nature or architecture backdrop for family photographs. We like to shoot those first so that we can let your families rest and get ready for the wedding reception as soon as possible. Next, we like to do a mix of fun, formal and fine art wedding photography with the bridal party and finally, we like to dedicate the last portion of the time to the two of you.

We normally arrive at the reception before most of your guests do. This gives us the opportunity to set up our lights and shoot all the details such as centerpieces, the wedding cake, the décor and favours. We shoot documentary, photojournalistic and candid style shots at the reception except for a few moments at which you may prefer to have us pose you such as the cutting of the cake. We have our video lights set up and will turn them on for important moments such as speeches, your first dance, parent dances and the bouquet and garter toss. The lights are warm and usually fairly unnoticed and unobtrusive.

Wear it Again photo and video sessions, also known as Trash the Dress, are increasingly popular amongst our clients. This type of shoot takes place after your wedding has passed and gives you the opportunity to wear your wedding attire for the second time with the freedom to act and pose in a way that may have been too risky on your wedding day. Your wedding dress will often get dirty but will seldom be damaged. Trash the Dress shoots are especially popular with our destination wedding clients because beautiful beaches offer a stunning backdrop for extremely creative photography and video shoots. Destination Wedding Videos usually include a full Trash the Dress music video set to your favourite song. Urban locations can also offer incredibly rich and colourful backgrounds such as graffitied alleyways, train tracks, scrap yards and busy city streets.

Maternity shoots are another popular way to follow up your wedding photographs. These shoots are generally done in our photography studio or inside the privacy of your home. Although the focus of the shoot is on the belly and the beautiful pregnant body, we strongly encourage you to involve your partner in some of the photographs. Some of the most beautiful and genuine emotions between couples are captured during maternity shoots.

We do a wide variety of Studio Portraits including family portraits, modeling and acting portfolios, corporate portraits, headshots and product photography.

Although we’re based out of Toronto, we shoot and travel everywhere for work. The Ontario locations in which we most often shoot are Toronto, Mississauga, Brampton, Etobicoke, Milton, Woodbridge, Cambridge, London, Kitchener, Waterloo, Niagara Falls, Hamilton, Windsor, Kleinburg, Perth and Ottawa.

We have also traveled to shoot destination weddings and documentary films in the USA, in Caribbean countries such as Jamaica and Grenada, in Thailand and in Europe. We have had the wonderful experience of working with a wide variety of cultures, religions and traditions and have experience working at many ceremonies. The types of ceremonies we encounter most often are Catholic, Eastern Orthodox (including Greek, Macedonian, Serbian and Bulgarian), Jewish, Hindu, Muslim, Ishmaeli, Pagan, non-religious, Baptist and Christian.
